Day 26: Baking Buns

Today, we explored Port aux Choix, an historic site that has several interesting things to see. First we went to the visitor center to score some T-Shirts, stickers, and other misc. swag. We also read up on the area's history as another fishing town. We did a nice hike out to the north side of the spit to Philips Garden, where years ago people from Labrador would come and grow crops, the cliff views were pretty awesome. The highlight of the day was the French bread oven bake. We dressed up in historical french clothing and baked bread from a wood fired oven. We had homemade jams and butter that where delightful. We listened to a guy play the accordion and tell of old folklore. The sun came out for a tickle, but was mostly cold and typical Newfoundland windy by afternoon. For dinner we stopped in at the local Anchor Cafe and relished some more fresh seafood, fried, grilled, and delish. We got in a couple games of Mexican train with friends, then called it a night.
