Vikings Exploring |
Day 21 - June 1: Today we took a trip to L'ans aux Meadows just north of St. Anthony where the vikings landed and setup camp years ago to establish trade to "Vinland" area. This was a national historic site with trails, tours, and sod houses. The sod houses were pretty cool, and amazingly warm with just a small fire inside. We walked along the shore and stood where vikings like Leif Erickson once graced these shores. We hiked the Round Head trail part of the Iceberg trail series and saw a half dozen icebergs. After we lost count of how many icebergs we have seen on this trip so far, losing count after a dozen or more, we celebrated with Iceberg beer and local fish n' chips at the Northern Delight restaurant in St. Lanaire. Day 22, Sunday June 2, was a down day, it was foggy with bits and spurts of rain. We slept in, had coffee, brunch and TV and I was able to catch Sunday Service at CSLDallas.org on Starlink live along with class, and a bonus session with David Zelman the author of What Next? who was the special guest speaker at Sunday service today. We did make it outside for a short walk by the lake. Tomorrow... Travel day. :)
