Talkeetna is a neat little touristy town 14 miles off the main highway where their is a train station and airport for flight-seeing. The little town has several novelty shops, stores, restaurants, and sights to see. It is right on the river where you can go on jet boat tour, raft float tour, fish, or just eat some cheese bread. The main attraction I think is the Denalil Brewery, a popular place to taste micro brews and bar food. We skipped all that fun and did laundry. We did partake in the bakery, fish taco truck, and some swag shopping. Stickers and T-shirts were scored on all accounts. The Talkeetna boat launch and RV park was a no frills campground and was quite muddy with the rain and filled with pot holes. It was on the river, but the view was not that great. It was a good basecamp, but again, it rained most the time so we did not get out and explore much while here except to drive the Jeep into town to walk the streets and do laundry.
