| Moose Flats Trail - Explorer Glacier |
Rain is forecasted all week here at Williwaw Campground, bummer. We get breaks in the rain so we head out, rain gear in hand. The plan was to go to Girdwood for Dinner and get some hikes in on the way. We get some awesome hikes and pics on Moose flats trail. This was a total surprise as we just pulled in and started walking. The view was incredible and we just could not get enough of it. The sun was peeking out, no rain, no wind, the relfection on the lake before the glacier view was just stunning. Dinner at Double Musky Inn was from 5-9pm and they don't take reservations so we decided to get moving to get in line. We actually planned to buy some lottery tickets since the Mega Lottery was at an all time high 1.58B, and surprisingly to us, Alaska is one of the 5 states that does not participate in Lottery. We make a couple calls to friends and family and snag some tickets via proxy. (spoiler alert, we did not win). We topped the Jeep off with gas then headed over to the restaurant to find the line at 4:40pm was already forming. We get in line and the rest was just magical. Dinner was outrageously wonderful as Chef Justin was a delight. We had Jacked (Jalapeño) shrimp and Halibut stuffed mushrooms for appy's, followed by Pepper steak and Grilled Halibut. The Jalapeño bread served with the meal was awesome as well. We did not make it to desert and took half our dinner home. Great Hike, great view, awesome dinner, wonderful day.
