Our first Iceberg sighting |
May 27: We made our way to Triton Newfoundland today under beautiful gorgeous blue skies. It was only 133 miles, but the roads were good. We left Steady Brook Falls about 9:30 this morning and arrived in Triton around 2pm. We stopped for Fuel ($5.08/Gal) in Deer Lake, and also made a grocery stop at Foodland. Tonights boondock spot sponsor is the Sperm Whale Museum were we are staying. They have an RV dump and fresh water, all no charge. We dropped the Jeep and drove up the spit into town. We stopped at the local store and bought fresh cooked lobsters for $14CAN. We also hiked Cobbler's Trail in Brighton and saw our first Iceberg, it was huge, but they said it was much bigger several weeks ago when it arrived. We ate next door to the whale museum at Fudge's Resturant and had some great fish & chips, fried chicken, and scallops. It was an awesome day on the road in Newfoundland. We finished off the day sitting outside our RV enjoying the view of the bay, when a local came by and offered us some Iceberg ice that he chipped off the iceberg this morning. We mixed up some iceberg ice old fashions and toasted to a wonderful day.
