Day 17: Travel Day

Today was another travel day. Six hour drive to Provo Utah to spend the night at the Hampton Inn. Absolutely nothing happened today besides a stop at Chili's for lunch along the way. St. George and the canyon drive up Interstate 15 was beautiful with sun and some clouds as the temperatures fell from the 60's to the upper 30's arriving in Provo. Justs another day in the life of AlanYoli on the road.

Day 15-16: Vegas Strip

We sleep in a bit, have our coffee, and then pack a few last things before hitting the road north to Vegas. Its about a 5 hour drive in the Jeep so we pulled out around 9:30am. We arrive just before 3pm at the MGM Grand hotel to secure the furthest room from check in. We shlepped our bags a quarter mile to our room and Yoli took a nap, I made a quick loop on the strip. Our room was farthest from the registration desk, but absolutely the closest to the strip. A quick trip from the 8th floor to street level put us just less than a one minute walk to the boulevard. We had tickets to see two shows, Cirque du Soleil "O" at thge Bellagio the first night, and David Copperfield at the MGM Grand the second night. We ate dinner at Gordon Ramsey's Burger one night, it was good too. The "O" show was great, I had seen it 10+ years ago and it was just as entertaining. It was Yoli's first Cirque du Soleil performance. We also stopped to see the Bellagio dancing fountains, pretty cool. Next night we enjoyed the magic of David Copperfield, and we got a lot of power walking and shopping done on the strip as well between shows.

Day 14: Pack Day

We have a full day in Snowbird West to prep, pack, and get ready for our road trip to Park City, UT for a week of skiing. We sleep in, have our coffee, go for a walk around the park, but mainly today we pack up the Jeep for our 11 hour drive. We do plan to stop in Vegas for some shows along the way, will chat about that in the next post. For now, resting up for the drive in the Jeep as we will be leaving the RV here for a week with RJ at Snowbird West. Thanks RJ!

Day 13: Snowbird West

Today we moved to Snowbird West near Salome, AZ, only a 61 mile drive. This is an RV park for seasonal campers mostly and we will be leaving our rig here for a week while we go skiing at Park City UT. We have friends staying here in the park to watch our rig, plus we are in the middle of nowhere an hour drive from the closest town. We had some rare rain today and a rainbow to finish off our trip.

Day 11-12: Desert Life

The last few days we have been getting into desert life. Sun and fun, but also the dust, not all is perfect. We have wind and dust to deal with, but in all, it is still fun and hanging with friends in the desert has been a blast.

Day 10: Desert Sunshine

We are really loving the crisp mornings and warm days here in the sunshine. Light jackets in the morning and shorts and T-Shirts in the afternoon. Today, we enjoy coffee and sunrise this morning followed by another afternoon at the flea market/RV show. We cruise the big tent for more RV stuff and deals of the day as the show comes to a close this weekend. We scoop up some deals and last minute items. We phoned in an order to Silly Al's for a large pizza with all the fixins and take it back to the rig for the gathering around the fire ring and sunset. As the night started to chill and the stories faded, we called it a night to rinse and repeat tomorrow.

Day 9: The Big Tent

Today was casual, no plans, we get up at 10am for coffee and enjoy the warm sunshine as temperatures creep up to the mid 50's. Today's high is 67 which is fine by me. The wind did pickup into the mid teen's to keep us cooled off. We head into town where the "Big Tent" event is going on here in Quartzite. Think flea market, where everyone comes from miles around to sell odd stuff and some not so odd. You can get all kinds of RV stuff here, along with usual flea market bargains. The "Big Tent" is actually an RV show where you can browse all kinds of new RV's for sale by local dealers on name brands. We spent 3-4 hours rummaging through the stuff picking bits here and there. Some good deals, and some no so much. I did not take any pictures today, so I will have to get some of the "Big Tent" next time we head downtown.

Day 8: Quartzite AZ

Party on Plamosa Road

Today was another travel day, a whopping 40 miles south from Parker to Plamosa Road just north of Quartzite Arizona. The Escapees RV club is putting on a "Party in the Desert" this evening with live music. We made the short drive stopping at Walmart and the Auto parts store for miscellaneous items before heading to the desert. As we left the La Paz County campground we say good bye to Craig, Kim, Phil, and Elody as they will not be stopping in Quartzite and head straight to the border for a trip down the Baja of Mexico. We won't be joining them this year, but it sure would be fun. We plan to hang with our Exscaper peeps here in Quartzite before heading to Park City Utah for a week of skiing.

Day 7: We say goodbye

Today we say goodbye to our old friends as they move on. We do the hot tub again, Craig rents a plane to fly out of Havasu, and we enjoy the 60 degree sunshine with very little wind today. It was a relaxing day with no agenda, just enjoy our friendships. RJ and Saphire head south to Plamosa Road and we will catch up with them tomorrow near Quartzite AZ. Goodbye Parker Arizona and the Colorado River. Good times with old friends.

Day 6: La Paz County Campground

Hanging at the Roadrunner Bar

Today was all about catching up with old friends. Craig and Kim rolled into camp today and hugs were cherished all round. We spent hours catching up on everyone's travels this past year and all the latest happenings. We drive into Lake Havasu City and shop till we can't haul any more home from the thrift bargain shopping to groceries. We dine at the Roadrunner bar on the river where happy hour is all day, everyday, and defines our way of living. We finished the evening with a hot tub soak and more memories shared and dreamed. Life is good while the world moves on. We heard it was a holiday, Trump day, and Inauguration day, we will have plenty of time to catch up with the world later. Today was all about friends and fun times on Monday in the desert. Cheers to 60 degrees and sunshine.
