It's a Wrap

Mom's new Kitchen

We cleaned out the RV, washed her up and put her under wraps until next year. We also visit with mom and see her recent remodel of her home. Looking good! The next RV adventure probably won't be until Jan. 2024 when we head to Arizona and Mexico for the winter. Between now and then we will make some side trips to Destin for a couple weeks in the condo on the beach. For mid November we have a 15 day cruise planned from London to Ft. Lauderdale with stops in Portugal, Antiqua, Grand Turks, San Juan PR, and St. Martin.

Day 103: Home Again :P

The final push home today. We planned to leave around 7am but I forgot to change my clock setting when we crossed the border to central time. We jumped up made coffee and hit the road at 8:30am. First stop was fuel, the on the road. I wanted to avoid Friday traffic today so I drove non-stop all the way home about 6 hours and 340 miles. Rained enough to wash the bugs off the front of the RV, but it stopped and we had a nice drive home avoiding most the traffic except the 114 construction. We pulled in the driveway at 2:30pm. Alaska Summer 2023 Trip Done, time to clean out the RV and get back into our home grove.

Day 102: Amarillo by Afternoon

Amarillo by morning, well late late morning, maybe I should say afternoon. Not a long day but still 250+ miles is respectable in an RV. We crossed the border into Oklahoma across the 40 mile panhandle and into Texas, we were in our home state, planning to spend our last night with family in Amarillo. We ended up parking in the Church parking lot instead of the visitor center and we went for Mexican food. Yummy, good food and family always fun.

Day 101: Yoli at the wheel

Yoli at the wheel heading south From Kaycee Wyoming to Eads, CO. A 500+ mile day and Yoli makes it look easy. We stopped at a Roadside rest in Kaycee Wyoming and had an uneventful evening. We got up early and hit the road knowing this might be a long day and it was. We pulled into the Eads, Colorado rest stop just after dark. Tomorrow, Amarillo!

Day 100: Into Wyoming

We started our day from Cabela's in Billings MT where we spent the night. Our first stop was Bretz RV to dump and fill the tanks, then we hit the road. We planned to stop in Sheridan WY at Walgreens for some meds on the road then make our way towards Cheyenne WY. Well we did not make it all the way, we held up this evening in rest stop in Kaycee WY not far past Sheridan. We got a late start as I needed to change the oil in the RV since we have now past the 8000 mile mark from home and when I changed it last. We had a great breakfast as Yoli made a an awesome egg Frittata. We also stopped at the Little Bighorn Battlefield a.k.a. as Custers last stand/battlefield. Pretty day with sunshine, but very flat terrain and not much to see.

Day 99: Back in the U.S.A

We crossed the border today and made a big push to Billings Montana. 406 mile day and Yoli got behind the wheel as well. Another beautiful day today, just not much to see but flat farm land from Lethbridge to Billings. We did stop on the bluff to have dinner and some photos at sunset over the town of Billings. Very beautiful spot where many locals come to walk and watch the sunset over the valley.

Day 98: Lake Louise & Moraine

Today we made the short drive of 30 miles to Lake Louise from Silverhorn campground. We parked the RV, unhooked the Jeep and first drove to Moraine Lake. Today was a beautiful day with clear blue skies. We hiked to the top of Rockpile for Lake Moraine pics, then on to Lake Louise for some selfies on Louise.
After our photo shoot, we made the drive from lake Louise to Lethbridge Alberta. We stopped in Banff for some photos, then Calgary just in time for our first traffic jam. Heading south we stopped at a roadside rest Old Man river, for dinner. We ended our day in Lethbridge at the local Walmart parking lot. No exciting events today after the photo shoot, just a nice drive in Alberta.

Day 97: Overlander Falls

Overlander Falls

Travel Day as we head up the mountain to Jasper and Lake Louise. First stop was Overlander Falls where we took a short hike down to the falls that were spectacular. Back on the road, we stopped short of Lake Louise today are target camp spot because we pulled into the Silverhorn campground and were able to get a sweet pull through site. It was reserved but no one showed up so we nabbed it. On the way we stopped at Coleman Creek for dinner where we had a nice view of Bow river. The bonus was mountain goats on the hill. Tomorrow we will head into Lake Louise to see the lake and Lake Moraine as well before moving further south to Banff, Calgary, and the U.S. Border in Montana.

Day 96: Berg Lake Trail

We actually moved the RV to the visitor center this morning because in the trees at the campground we did not get any solar or starlink. At the VC we got full sun and internet. We visited the center and then did a great hike today to Kinney Lake on the Berg Lake Trail.

Day 95: Mt. Robson Park

Today's ride was the longest so far, 295 miles to Mount Robson Provincial Park. We got us a nice shaded spot in the woods at Robson Meadows Campground and did a nice walk/hike to the river for some great pics of Mt. Robson before bedtime.
